The spirit of Scouting shone brightly as Greater Manchester East (GME) Scouts gathered for their annual Awards Night, celebrating the dedication, resilience, and achievements of young people from across the county.
Scouts, Explorers, and Young Leaders from districts including North Tameside, Tameside South, Tame Valley, and Glossop were recognised alongside peers from across GME.
The prestigious ceremony highlighted an impressive range of accomplishments, with awards presented for the Chief Scout’s Gold, Platinum and Diamond Awards, Young Leader Awards, the Explorer Belt, Duke of Edinburgh Awards, and the King’s Scout Award, the highest honour achievable by a young person in Scouting.
North Tameside District saw three of its Scouts honoured, each representing the very best of commitment to personal development, community service, and the Scouting values that bind the movement together.
The event, held at Stockport Town Hall, was attended by the Civic Mayor of Tameside, Councillor Shibley Alam, who also serves as President of North Tameside District Scouts during her Mayoral year.
Cllr Alam joined leaders, families, and supporters in celebrating the achievements of the young people, congratulating them for their perseverance and community spirit.
“I am immensely proud of each young person recognised tonight,” said Cllr Alam. “Their achievements reflect not just personal dedication but also the strength of Scouting across Greater Manchester.
“These awards demonstrate how Scouting empowers young people to grow in confidence, develop skills for life, and make a positive impact in their communities.”
The evening also highlighted the efforts of volunteer leaders, whose guidance and encouragement have supported hundreds of young people in reaching their goals.
Greater Manchester East Scouts continues to provide opportunities for young people aged 4–25 to try new activities, develop lifelong skills, and contribute to their communities through adventure, teamwork, and leadership.
