Santa’s float returns to Tameside to spread festive cheer

Get ready, Tameside – the sound of sleigh bells is on its way!

The much-loved Santa’s Float, organised by the Rotary Club of Tameside, is set to return this December, bringing festive magic to local streets while raising vital funds for local charities and community projects.

Starting on Thursday 4th December, Santa and his team of Rotary volunteers will begin their evening mobile routes around Ashton and the surrounding areas, waving to families, collecting donations, and spreading holiday joy.

The float will visit a series of neighbourhoods between 6:30 pm and 9:00 pm (unless otherwise stated), with additional static locations at local supermarkets and town centres for families who’d like to see Santa up close.

Mobile Routes Schedule:

Thurs 4 Dec: Start OL7 9TJ – Dog & Pheasant, Oldham Rd (Top Dog). Anglesey Rd, Ney St, Springwood Way, Camberwell & streets off, Downshaw, Beech Mount, Store St. Finish: Store St.

Tues 9 Dec (from 6:15 pm): Start OL6 8DE – Top of St. Albans, Lees Rd, and all of the Hartshead Estate.

Wed 10 Dec: Start OL7 9JA – Newmarket Rd/Patterdale Ave, covering Penrith, Furness, Hilton Drv, Ashton Moss Estate, Keswick, Lakeside, Borrowdale, Bowness, Kendal, Ambleside, Ullswater, Thirlmere, Rydal, Scafell Ave, finishing on Crowhill Road.

Thurs 11 Dec: Start OL6 8HR – Rosehill Rd/Mossley Rd, including Rosehill Rd, Aldergate Grove, Cravenwood, Weymouth Rd, Kings Rd, Kenworthy, Hampson, St. Christopher’s, Gorsey Way, and The Mere.

Mon 15 Dec: Start OL6 6NQ – Neal Avenue, Beaufort Rd, Derby Rd, Montague Rd, Hutton, Arundel St, Darnton, Mellor, Cockbrook.

Tues 16 Dec: Start OL6 8BQ – Hartsmead, Greenhurst Rd, School Ave/Broadoak Rd, Broadbent, Coronation Rd, Smallshaw, Sycamore, Miller St, Henrietta & streets off, Firs Ave.

Wed 17 Dec: Start OL6 8QW – Old Ball Inn, Broadoak, covering Timperley, Hartshead Ave, Gambrel, Waterloo, Lyndhurst, Wilshaw, Vicarage & Cranbourne.
