The Royal National Lifeguard Institution (RNLI) Hyde Branch is holding a special event in memory of the people of the Titanic.
The event will take place on Saturday 7th June at Zion Church in Hyde.
The event is based around a talk about the people from Greater Manchester that had a connection to RMS Titanic.
Lauren Jaye Gradwell, is hosting the talk, she started the project during the pandemic when we were all stuck at home.
Lauren has researched stories about people from all walks of life in the Greater Manchester Area: “For five years I've been discovering and researching the lives of 40 individuals who set foot on the RMS Titanic, who had links to the Greater Manchester area, with the eventual aim of writing a book on this subject.
“During the talk I will be explaining who these people were, and their connections to Greater Manchester, how I found out about them and will be delving deeper into certain individual’s lives, bringing their stories to life. This will be followed by Questions and Answers afterwards.”
Tickets for the event are £5 per person and include a jam and cream scone with a drink.
The event will also have a raffle with tickets on sale, and is on 2pm until 4pm at Zion Church, 1 Peel Street, Hyde, Sk145PE.
All funds raised will go towards the RNLI’s lifesaving work.
The RNLI Hyde branch is over 100 years old.
Tickets for the event are limited, so people are urged not to delay if they want to attend!
