If you thought the last Street Life party was something special, then get ready – because the force (and the funny bone) is strong with this one.
Following the blockbuster success of the inaugural event on 4th July, which pulled in over 4,000 locals and transformed Market Avenue into a buzzing hub of music, movie magic, food, and fun, the team behind the celebration are turning things up to eleven. Mark your calendars: Street Life: Episode II – Return of the Street Party is set to hit Ashton-under-Lyne on Saturday 23rd August 2025, and it's going bigger, louder, and bolder than ever.
The festival’s footprint has grown to include Warrington Street, Wood Street, and George Street, turning the heart of Ashton into a full-blown celebration zone.
Organisers have just announced an iconic guest appearance from British sitcom royalty; Jim Royle is heading to Ashton!
Ricky Tomlinson, best known for his hilarious portrayal of Jim Royle in the beloved series The Royle Family, will be attending Street Life in full character and costume. Expect belly laughs and classic Royle one-liners as Ricky channels the nation’s favourite armchair philosopher live in Ashton.
This character appearance is set to be one of the standout moments of the event, offering fans a chance to meet and interact with Ricky in his most iconic role – in what promises to be an unforgettable slice of British comedy nostalgia.
And there's more to come, organisers are teasing a second major announcement involving Ricky, with full details coming soon.
Street Life: Episode II is shaping up to be a full-scale community takeover, a celebration of all things local – from talent and traders to creativity and culture.
Organisers Make Ashton Great Again are pulling no punches: “We’re back!! Bigger, louder, wilder – and ready to take Ashton by storm once again!”
From 10am until late, attendees can expect: live music from local and regional performers, street food from around the world, movie memorabilia and replica props and special guest appearances
Entry to the event is completely free to the event.
Organisers are currently calling on: performers, traders, artists and creatives and volunteers to get involved in the next Ashton takeover.
