Prost! Denton Town Twinning invites residents to FREE Oktoberfest twinning taster night

Denton residents are being invited to grab a beer, tuck into some German food and find out what town twinning is all about at a FREE Oktoberfest Taster Night on Monday 14 September.

Denton Town Twinning Association is taking over a popular Denton pub for the evening, with free German food, beer, music and a chance to meet some of the people involved in Denton’s links with Kierspe in Germany and Montigny-le-Bretonneux in France.

And, if you're serious about finding out what the craic is, the whole night is completely free!

Denton has been twinned with Montigny since 1992 and Kierspe since 2012. Since then, thousands of local people have travelled between the three towns, with cultural, educational and musical exchanges bringing people together across Europe.

Councillor George Newton, Chair of Denton Town Twinning Association, said:

“A lot of people think town twinning is about road signs or the EU - it absolutely isn’t. It’s about creating opportunities for local people, learning new skills, discovering new cultures and having fun along the way.

“Always been curious about town twinning? Come along, grab a beer and a bratwurst and find out what it’s all about.”

The event comes ahead of a big weekend for town twinning in November, when Denton will welcome visitors from Kierspe in Germany to experience the town's Bonfire Night celebrations.

Places for the Oktoberfest night are limited, so anyone interested is being asked to register for a free ticket in advance.

Applicants will then be sent their ticket along with the venue and full details for the evening.
