Firefighters were called to The Gun Inn in Hollingworth on Monday 19th October, after a car's brakes failed and it collided with the pub and a fire broke out.
Three fire engines attended the incident on Market Street at around 5pm, with crews from Ashton, Stalybridge and Hyde fire stations.
Footage from the scene showed smoke pouring from a dark grey car as firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.
A witness reported seeing the car, driven by a young woman, begin smoking from the bonnet. A van driver sounded their horn to alert her, prompting her to pull off the road and get out of the vehicle immediately.
Both lanes of Mottram Moor were subsequently closed.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 5pm on Monday 19th October, fire crews were called to reports of a road traffic collision and fire at a commercial building on Market Street, Hollingworth.
“Three fire engines from Ashton, Stalybridge and Hyde stations were quickly mobilised to the incident, which involved a car that had collided with the building.
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel and covering jet to extinguish the fire. GMFRS crews were in attendance for around an hour.”
The blaze caused damage to nearby traffic lights, while the ground around the scene was left scorched, however despite the incident, The Gun Inn was able to reopen later that evening.
In a message posted on Facebook later that evening, the pub's owners said: “The Gun Inn Pub is back open now, there may be a slight smell of smoke still lingering about. Thank you all for your patience during tonight's events.”
