A new Chief Executive Officer has started work at homelessness charity Emmaus Mossley.
On Monday 13 April, Ant Hopkinson started his new role at the charity that empowers people to overcome homelessness for good. Emmaus Mossley’s residential community provides people with the foundation of a home and life-changing tailored support.
Commenting after starting, Ant said: “I'm incredibly proud to be joining Emmaus Mossley and to be part of such a special community. I've already been inspired by the warmth, resilience and determination of the people here, and I'm excited to work alongside staff and companions to build on the charity’s strong foundations.
“At a time when homelessness and hardship are rising across our communities, the role Emmaus plays has never been more vital. Together, we'll continue to create opportunities for people to move forward with confidence and purpose.”
Ant brings extensive experience in organisational development, building strong partnerships and delivering impactful services that put people at the heart of positive change. His career in the voluntary and community sector has included senior leadership roles focused on tackling inequality and supporting people facing complex challenges.
Most recently, Ant has worked as CEO of Sahir, a charity working across Merseyside which focusses on improving the health and wellbeing of people living with HIV. Following a rigorous recruitment process, Ant was appointed in January and will now be working alongside outgoing CEO, Alison Hill, until June.
Keith Skerman, Chair of Emmaus Mossley, said: “The Emmaus Mossley Board warmly welcomed Ant Hopkinson at his first Board meeting in his new role on 14 April. He will build on our success and work with us to meet the challenges ahead.”
Nestled in the Tame Valley, Emmaus Mossley’s residential community is home for up to 26 people at any one time. Whilst at Emmaus, each person is supported to build their confidence, self-esteem, skills and work experience to achieve their goals.
