Mossley Hollins High School is proudly celebrating another year of strong academic success as students from the Class of 2025 collected their GCSE results.

The school, staff and governors have extended heartfelt congratulations to all students for their resilience, determination, and achievements in this summer’s examinations.

This year, over 80% of students secured a standard pass in English, with more than 75% achieving the same in mathematics. Additionally, 61% of students earned a strong pass in English, and 55% did so in mathematics, marking a significant accomplishment for the cohort.

The school is also celebrating the achievements of students studying the English Baccalaureate (EBacc), with 64% of the year group entering the EBacc pathway and nearly 40% achieving good grades across all EBacc subjects - a strong indicator of academic breadth and depth.

Among the top achievers, Lucy Kelly stood out with an extraordinary performance - Grade 9 in eight subjects and Grade 8 in two. Similarly, Harry Wadsworth achieved seven Grade 9s and a Grade 8. Further congratulations go to Charlotte Rhodes, Anna Sydney, and Maxwell Guy, who also earned multiple top-grade 9s - an outstanding feat achieved by only a small number of students nationally.

Beyond the headlines of high grades, Mossley Hollins is also celebrating remarkable progress and determination shown by students including Bryn Ryan, Archie Moreland, Luca Ovenden-Edwards, Eva-Grace Naggs, Harriet Sice, Isla Hallworth, Connor Brough, and Rosa Li. These students demonstrated exceptional growth during their five years at the school, often overcoming significant personal challenges to surpass expectations.

The school reported particularly strong subject results in Separate Sciences, where over 30% of students achieved Grade 7 or above in all three sciences. Similarly, in Statistics, 55% of students achieved a Grade 7 or higher, and in Art, more than 30% reached the same benchmark - highlighting the school’s broad academic strength and commitment to both STEM and the arts.

There was also great pride in the achievements of students with special educational needs (SEN). Over 70% of SEN students achieved a standard pass in both English and mathematics, a testament to their resilience and the inclusive, supportive environment fostered at Mossley Hollins.

Reflecting on the results, the school offered its thanks to families and carers for their unwavering support, and to staff for their dedication in guiding students through both academic and personal challenges.

Phil Wilson, Chief Executive of the Tame River Educational Trust, praised the accomplishments of students across the Trust’s schools: “On behalf of the Trust, I extend my warmest congratulations to all our students. Their results are a testament to years of dedication, resilience, and hard work. We are immensely proud of what they have accomplished.

“I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our staff and governors, whose unwavering commitment and support have been instrumental in guiding our students to success.”
