Mossley residents have been busy with their knitting needles this autumn, and the result is nothing short of extraordinary.
On Saturday 15th November at 3pm, the community will gather to unveil a 100-metre-long “Warm Welcome Scarf”, lovingly handmade by dozens of local people of all ages.
The scarf, created as part of the Warm Welcome Scarf Project, will be wrapped around Mossley Community Centre in the coming week. It stands as a colourful and heartfelt symbol of the way the town supports and cares for one another.
Organisers say the project has brought neighbours together “stitch by stitch,” building not just a giant scarf, but also friendships, connection, and belonging. Each knitted piece represents a contribution from someone in the community, forming a tapestry of kindness and unity when joined together.
Residents are invited to join the celebration at the Community Centre Hall, where the scarf will be displayed before being wrapped around the building. Visitors will be welcomed with hot chocolate and marshmallows as they admire the unique creation and the teamwork that brought it to life.
