Meet your Council Leaders and help shape Tameside’s future

Residents invited to new Cabinet in the Community meetings across the borough.

Tameside residents are being given a unique opportunity to meet their local council decision makers and help shape the future of their communities in a new series of Cabinet in the Community meetings.

Running throughout late September and October, the events will be held in each of Tameside’s nine towns. They aim to bring senior councillors, including the Tameside Council Executive Cabinet, directly to local communities, offering people the chance to ask questions, share views, and have a direct say in how their neighbourhoods are developed.

The meetings will also serve as an important consultation on the Borough Plan – a five-year vision for the future of Tameside. The feedback gathered will influence key decisions and help create a new structure for local engagement, replacing the current Neighbourhood Forums.

Tameside Council Executive Leader, Cllr Eleanor Wills, said the new approach is all about empowering communities and making decision-making more transparent and inclusive: " We want everyone to have the chance to get to know who is making decisions on their behalf for the council, ask questions and tell us what's important to you.

"Listening to people is important to us - we want to know what you think is working well in your local area and across Tameside, and your ideas to improve things further.

"We're bringing the meetings to you in your local areas to make it as easy as possible for everyone to get involved and have your say. By working together we can be a mighty force in changing things for the better for everyone."

Each session runs from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and includes opportunities for open discussion, feedback, and networking with councillors and officers. The full schedule is as follows:

  • Monday 22 Sept – Ashton: Ashton Library
