Man killed after being hit by car on M60

The M60 was closed for 12 hours yesterday following the collision

A 57 year old man was killed after being hit by a car on the M60 in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 29).

Emergency services were called to the anti-clockwise carriageway shortly before 4am.

The motorway was closed in both directions between junction 23 and 21 initially before the clockwise carriageway was reopened around six hours after the incident.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The anti-clockwise carriageway remained closed for 12 hours whilst investigations were carried out, the motorway was fully reopened at around 4:20pm.

Greater Manchester Police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: “At around 3:56am this morning Sunday 29 June 2025, a vehicle driving on junction 22 of the M60 collided with a pedestrian.

“The collision caused significant injuries and the pedestrian, a 57-year-old man, sadly passed away at the scene.

“Our Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
