A man has been arrested following a large police response to an incident in Denton on Sunday evening.
Police and paramedics were first called to Victoria Park at around 6.40pm after receiving reports of a man behaving aggressively and believed to be carrying a knife.
The suspect, who was bare-chested, was later tracked down near the junction of Ashton Road and Hyde Road in Denton town centre.
A significant police presence attended, including armed officers and riot-trained members of the Tactical Aid Unit. A section of Ashton Road was temporarily closed while officers dealt with the incident.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed that no members of the public were injured.
The 30-year-old man was initially detained and taken to hospital for assessment. In an update this morning (Monday), GMP said he has since been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and a racial public order offence. He remains in custody for questioning.
