Students at The Manchester College have plenty to celebrate following an impressive set of results for Level 3 qualifications in 2025, with standout performances in T Levels, BTECs, and other technical and creative courses.
Continuing a strong tradition of academic achievement, the College reported that 92.7% of T Level students passed their courses across a range of high-demand subjects, including Education and Early Years, Health, Finance, Engineering, and Digital. This marks the institution’s third cohort to complete T Levels since the qualifications launched at the College in 2021.
The success rate for T Levels in 2025 exceeds the national average from the previous year by 1.7 percentage points, highlighting the College's growing reputation for excellence in vocational education. Furthermore, 27.8% of students earned a distinction – a significant 10 percentage point increase compared to 2024.
T Levels are designed to be equivalent to three A Levels and combine classroom study with practical experience, including a mandatory 45-day industry placement with an employer. This blend of learning is helping students build real-world skills alongside their academic knowledge.
In addition to the success in T Levels, the College also saw exceptional results across other Level 3 technical and creative qualifications. A remarkable 99.2% of students passed courses such as BTECs - up from 97.5% last year. Of these, 84% achieved a merit grade or higher, while 55.2% secured a distinction or above.
These results reflect the College’s commitment to delivering high-quality education that prepares students for both higher education and skilled employment in competitive industries.
Rachel Curry, Principal of The Manchester College, said: “We’re exceptionally proud of the amazing results that our students have achieved this year, which are a testament to their talent, dedication and perseverance. They’ve worked incredibly hard, with the support of our remarkable teachers and support teams, to reach the aspirational goals they set for themselves and develop the technical and creative skills that will make sure they stand out from the crowd when they progress to university or start their careers.
“It’s pleasing to see the success of our T Level students. They tackled these advanced technical qualifications with a combination of enthusiasm and tenacity, and now they’ve got their rewards. I’d also like to thank our teaching and support staff, for their commitment to supporting our students, and their unwavering dedication in a year that has also seen our College graded as ‘Good’ by Ofsted.”
Henry Mafe
Henry Mafe has just finished the T Level Science course and achieved a Distinction. Henry has also secured employment at the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute as a Scientific Assistant. When reflecting on the course, Henry said: "The best part of the course was how the tutors helped me find a placement. I have gained great insight into the world of science and the different careers within it."
During their studies, Henry completed an industry placement with Cancer Research UK, who are one of the College’s employer partners. When asked about the positive impact Henry had on their organisation Lisa Doar, BRU Experimental Facility Manager at Cancer Research UK, said: “Henry is very enthusiastic and keen to learn; we were pleased with how quickly Henry settled into the work and picked up the skills needed to make a valuable contribution to the facility.
“Having had this positive experience with Henry, we will be looking to place T Level students from The Manchester College again in the future, and look forward to working with more enthusiastic students.”
Rachel Curry concluded: “This year’s technical education results across the board wouldn’t be possible without our fantastic employer partners, who co-develop and co-deliver our courses to ensure that students leave with the relevant knowledge and skills required to make an immediate impact in their pursuits of their dream careers. Our College makes a strong contribution to the skills agenda, equipping the next generation with the technical skills that industries across the city region want and need, so we can’t wait to see what our students go on to achieve, whether that’s in further study or employment.”
