Students at Laurus Ryecroft are stepping into the world of architecture, engineering and construction thanks to an exciting new partnership with consultancy giant Mott MacDonald.
The school has officially launched the prestigious Design Engineer Construct (DEC) programme, offering students aged 11–18 a unique pathway into careers in the built environment.
The DEC qualifications, available at Level 2 and 3, allow students to gain hands-on experience designing and constructing real-world projects. These qualifications are widely respected by both universities and industry leaders, and Laurus Ryecroft’s collaboration with Mott MacDonald brings a whole new dimension to the programme.
In a major boost for students, Mott MacDonald has committed to offering interviews to every student who completes the DEC Award, a move that could open doors to future employment with one of the world’s top engineering firms.
The programme officially launched last week with a visit from four Mott MacDonald professionals, who shared their career journeys and inspired students with stories from their fields.
The event was met with great enthusiasm, as students engaged with the wide array of career possibilities in engineering and construction.
Beyond the classroom, the partnership provides Laurus Ryecroft students with access to Mott MacDonald’s facilities, mentorship, real-world projects and a direct link to industry expertise, offering invaluable insight into STEM-based careers.
The school extended its gratitude in a post on Facebook to Brad, Ed, Kaitlyn and Esha for their inspirational presentations, and to Mott MacDonald for its generous support and commitment to the next generation of engineers and designers.
