Laurus Ryecroft celebrates outstanding GCSE results

Students and staff at Laurus Ryecroft are celebrating another year of outstanding GCSE success, with results reflecting both academic excellence and hard work across the school.

This summer, 18% of students achieved grades 7–9 in both English and Maths, while 74% secured a grade 4 or above in these core subjects. Half of all students achieved the gold standard of grade 5 in both English and Maths.

In a particularly impressive achievement, 10% of Year 11 students earned grades 7–9 across all of their subjects, underlining the school’s growing reputation for high attainment.

The celebrations extend beyond Year 11. Laurus Ryecroft’s Year 9 students, who sat their Spanish GCSE early, achieved remarkable results: 32% achieved grades 7–9, 77% attained a grade 4 or above, and 68% reached a grade 5 or higher.

Head of School Reece Carling praised the dedication of students, staff, and the wider community: “Both these GCSE results and our A Level results last week demonstrate just how serious we are about being unashamedly academic, and ensuring our students can open the door to the future of their choice. These high-attaining GCSE results are a testament to the rigorous commitment of students and staff over their five-year journey with us. We would like to take the opportunity to thank parents and carers, and the wider school community for their support.

Our Year 11s should be delighted with their results, and we wish them well in their next steps, whether that is to remain here with us at Ryecroft or seek pastures new.”

Laurus Trust CEO Linda Magrath OBE also praised the achievements of students: “It is wonderful to see such fantastic GCSE results from our Year 11 and Year 9 students. They should be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved today, and I want to take this opportunity to wish them every success in their next steps.”

For those continuing their journey with the school, Laurus Ryecroft Sixth Form is welcoming applications from both internal and external students. Registration opened from 10:30am today, with anyone who misses the session encouraged to contact the school directly at sixthform@laurusryecroft.org.uk.
