Students and staff at Droylsden Academy are celebrating a remarkable set of GCSE results today, with the Class of 2025 exceeding expectations and achieving higher grades than predicted.
This year’s results not only surpass those of the previous Year 11 cohort but have also outshone teacher predictions, highlighting the dedication, resilience, and hard work of students throughout their studies.
Particular highlights include outstanding performances in English, Science, and Maths, where students achieved especially strong results. Alongside these core subjects, superb achievements were recorded across a wide range of other courses, demonstrating the breadth of talent at the school.
Headteacher Mr Mayell praised both students and staff for their dedication and ambition: “We are incredibly proud of all our students – this is a truly fantastic year for Droylsden Academy. The Class of 2025 have worked exceptionally hard and have shown real character and commitment throughout their time with us. Their results are a testament to that. I’m hugely excited to see where their next steps in education take them, and we will miss them a great deal.”
As students prepare to move on to college courses, sixth form studies, apprenticeships, and other further education opportunities, Droylsden Academy staff have extended their heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the future. Mr Mayell also expressed his gratitude to parents and carers for their support, acknowledging the vital role families play in students’ success.
Phil Wilson, Chief Executive of the Tame River Educational Trust, praised the achievements of students across the Trust: “On behalf of the Trust, I extend my warmest congratulations to all our students. Their results are a testament to years of dedication, resilience, and hard work. We are immensely proud of what they have accomplished. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our staff and governors, whose unwavering commitment and support have been instrumental in guiding our students to success.”
Once again, Droylsden Academy has seen huge demand for places in September. For the ninth year running, the school is heavily oversubscribed, with an extensive waiting list reflecting its ongoing popularity and excellent academic reputation.
