Hope for Maggie: Tameside's resilient lurcher mum will soon be ready for her forever home

Maggie the lurcher mum who we reported on last week, is almost ready for adoption!

The RSPCA Tameside and Glossop's amazing lurcher mum Maggie is soon going to be looking for a home. A safe home, a home with a comfy bed, a home that shows her love, a home that allows her to eat without cruelty attached, a home that she could only ever dream of. If you’ve followed her story, you will know a small part of her horrible past.

She’s not ready to leave just yet, but the RSPCA want to be ready to settle her the very first moment they can. The team at the Tameside and Glossop branch would like her new family to be able to visit her a few times before she leaves them too.

The RSPCA have said: "Maggie is the softest kindest natured dog ever, but… she MUST be kept on a lead at all times when outside. Maggie has been made to chase other animals and unfortunately she doesn’t now know any different.

"She is fine with other dogs but definitely not cats or rabbits etc, basically any smaller, furry animals.

"Maggie will need help with toilet training but is starting to get the hang of things. She’s fine on the lead and doesn’t react to anything she sees.

"Given the right home, Maggie will be an amazing, loyal, loving family dog.

"Please bear in mind when considering adoption the things we have mentioned above and the patience she will need."

Home check and adoption fees will apply.
