Have your say at The Big Chat Event in Denton

Adults with learning disabilities and/or autism, along with their parents and carers, are being invited to share their views and enjoy a day of activities at a special community event in Denton.

The Big Chat, hosted by Tameside Council’s Adult Services in partnership with Active Tameside, takes place on Thursday 16 October 2025, from 10am to 3pm at Denton Wellness Centre, Lance Corporal Andrew Breeze Way, Denton, M34 3RD.

The drop-in style event aims to give people the chance to shape the future of local support services by sharing feedback on issues such as advocacy, belonging and good health. Alongside the opportunity to have their say, visitors can connect with others and take part in a variety of fun activities.

The day’s programme includes swimming, a pony patch, sessions with Tameside Music Service, crafts, dancing, yoga, tai chi and bowling. There will also be health and wellbeing consultations, including Let’s Talk Boobs at 10:30am and 1:30pm.

A wide range of local organisations and services will be on hand with information stalls and advice, including:

Cllr John Taylor, Executive Member for Adult Social Care, said: “We want you to have your say on the support available for people with learning disabilities and/or autism in Tameside. The Big Chat is a great opportunity for you to share your views, talk to local support services and get involved with a range of fun activities.”
