Golfers from across the region gathered at Ashton-under-Lyne Golf Club for the annual Martin Wild Golf Day, raising over £10,000 for Willow Wood Hospice.
Now a much-anticipated event in the local calendar, the golf day saw 22 teams take to the course on Friday 8th August, all in aid of supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses across Tameside and Glossop.
The day got underway with a shotgun start following hot refreshments, with participants enjoying 18 holes packed with friendly competition, including a Beat the Pro challenge. Despite the competitive edge, the focus remained on fundraising and community spirit.
Staff and volunteers from Willow Wood Hospice were on hand throughout the event to provide refreshments and support, helping make the day a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
At the end of play, prizes were awarded to teams finishing in the top six, with a silent auction rounding off the day’s activities. The top spot went to UK Decs, captained by Jason Moulton.
The event, first established in 2019, is championed by Martin Wild – a former Lancashire amateur golf champion and a long-time advocate for the hospice. With sponsorship from Docutech Office Solutions and Marshall Peters, the day was once again a resounding success, highlighting the generosity and community spirit of all those who took part.
All funds raised will go directly towards helping Willow Wood Hospice continue providing compassionate care and support to local patients and their families.
