Glossop North End part ways with Richard Brodie

Following a run of seven straight defeats, Glossop North End have parted ways with first team manager Richard Brodie.

After two years in charge, the 38-year-old was relieved of his duties on Wednesday afternoon, just hours after Tuesday’s defeat at Ramsbottom.

The former Skelmersdale and Burscough boss leaves GNE in 20th place in the NWCFL, having won just four out of 18 games this season.

Following Brodie’s departure, the club have released the following statement:

"It is with genuine regret that GNE can confirm the decision to part company with First Team Manager, Richard Brodie, after 2 years in charge

When Richard first joined the Hillmen, the club was rooted to the foot of the table, and his immediate impact helped steer us away from danger. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to rebuild and develop the squad, laying strong foundations both on and off the pitch. The hope going into this season was to build on that progress and continue moving forward.

During his time in charge, Richard managed over 100 games for Glossop North End — an achievement we know he is rightly very proud of, and a reflection of his commitment and dedication to the role.

However, despite a number of performances which arguably deserved far greater reward, results have ultimately not reflected the effort, commitment, and belief that Richard and his staff have shown. After careful consideration, the Board felt that a change was necessary at this stage of the season.

This has been a particularly difficult decision from a personal and human perspective. Richard’s passion, dedication, and the countless hours he has invested in the club have never been in question. His work ethic, professionalism, and care for both players and supporters have been evident throughout his time with Glossop North End.

We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Richard for his commitment and contribution over the past two years, and we wish him every success in the future.

We are sure Richard will remain a friend to all those who supported him during his time at the club, and to everyone connected with Glossop North End."
