Ashton-under-Lyne is about to take centre stage on the international film-tourism map with the announcement of a spectacular new attraction inspired by the cult-classic movie The Lost Boys.
Monopoly Events and Monopoly Studios have revealed plans for what promises to become a worldwide pilgrimage site for movie lovers and vampire devotees alike.
This major development marks the beginning of a series of visionary projects the companies intend to bring to Ashton-under-Lyne, projects set to transform the town centre into a hub of creativity, culture, and cinematic magic.
Sharp-eyed visitors during Halloween Week may have spotted the Santa Carla sign welcoming them into the town. That was no temporary decoration, Monopoly Studios is permanently installing the sign, complete with dazzling lighting effects, on the rear of the old Sorrentos building.
But that’s just the beginning.
Wood Street is set for a dramatic makeover, with some of the UK’s leading street artists creating a vibrant, immersive mural that will turn the area into a picture-perfect playground. The transformation promises to make the street one of the most photographed locations in Greater Manchester.
One of the highlights of the attraction will be an astonishing recreation of the iconic bridge scene featuring the five Lost Boys. Suspended over Wood Street, this installation is expected to become the coolest photo opportunity on the planet for fans of the film.
Visitors can look forward to a range of themed experiences, including: a hole-in-the-Wall Lost Boys-themed fast-food outlet and an interactive Lost Boys Cave
Adding to the excitement, cast members from The Lost Boys will make special appearances twice a year at exclusive, one-off events, giving fans rare opportunities to meet the stars behind the cult favourite.
Monopoly Events say their creative philosophy is simple: no limits. “We never set boundaries for our imagination – we let the magic happen, no matter how wild it seems,” they revealed in their announcement.
Opening dates will be announced soon, with anticipation already building for the attraction.
