A gentle giant with a heart full of love is patiently waiting for a second chance at happiness - and she might just be the perfect companion for someone right here in Tameside.
Mira, a beautiful four-year-old Cane Corso crossbreed, came into the care of Dogs Trust Manchester on July 24 after being found as a stray. Underweight and in need of some TLC, Mira had clearly endured a rough start in life, but thanks to the dedicated team at the rehoming centre, she’s now blossoming into a sweet and affectionate girl who’s ready to find a forever home.
“Mira didn’t have the best beginning, but she’s shown us nothing but kindness and love,” said Lisa Eardley, Rehoming Centre Manager at Dogs Trust Manchester. “She adores being around people, and we’re desperate to find her the loving home she really deserves.”
While kennel life has been a challenge for Mira, staff have made her feel as comfortable as possible. She now spends time in one of the centre’s offices during the day, where she can be close to her favourite humans - and it’s there that she’s discovered a love of cuddles, companionship, and even toys for the first time.
Mira’s ideal home would be one where she can be the only dog, although she could live alongside small animals if kept separate. She’s now starting to put on weight and has made great strides in learning some basic training, thanks to her love of food and her eagerness to please. She’s already mastered “sit” and is picking up new commands every day.
This loyal girl walks beautifully on the lead and would love a secure garden where she can bask in the sun and enjoy some peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of traffic, which she still finds a little overwhelming. Mira could live with teenagers who are confident around large dogs, and who won’t mind the occasional clumsy cuddle from a big softie who sometimes forgets her own size!
With her gentle nature and loving personality, Mira has everything it takes to be a devoted and loyal companion. All she needs now is a family to open their hearts and give her the home she so deserves.
If you think Mira might be the right match for you, the team at Dogs Trust Manchester would love to hear from you. The rehoming centre is open to the public five days a week, and no appointment is needed to visit, meet the dogs, or learn more about the adoption process.
“Whether it takes a few weeks or a few months, we’re committed to finding the perfect match for every dog in our care,” said Lisa. “You only need to apply once every three months, and we’ll do all we can to help you find the right dog, however long it takes.”
