A severe weather warning for tomorrow (Saturday) has meant entertainment at Ashton's Christmas Lights switch-on will have to take place indoors.
Music and other live entertainment will now take place in the Market Hall.
The decision comes after a severe weather warning was issued by the Met Office as Storm Bert is set to hit the UK.
The storm is expected to bring snow, ice, torrential rain and gale force winds, so the decision has been taken to provide the entertainment indoors, although the switch on will take place as arranged at 5pm.
According to the Yellow warning, high winds in particular at expected in Greater Manchester and throughout the North West.
