Ashton MP Angela Rayner spread festive cheer across the borough as she announced the winners of her annual Christmas card competition for local primary school pupils.
Every winter, Ms Rayner invites children from schools in Ashton, Audenshaw, Droylsden and Dukinfield to design the front cover of the Christmas card she sends to fellow MPs, celebrities and even the King.
This year’s competition proved as popular as ever, with almost 300 entries submitted by pupils working to the theme Santa’s Winter Wonderland. The colourful and imaginative designs made choosing the winners a difficult task.
The overall winner for 2025 was Laurelynn Tita from Waterloo Primary School. Second place went to Jannat Imran from St James’ Primary School, while third prize was awarded to Bartosz Dziok from St Peter’s Primary School.
The three winning pupils were each presented with a gift, a copy of the finished Christmas card and a certificate to recognise their achievement.
Speaking after announcing the results, Ms Rayner said: “I always enjoy looking through the pictures sent in for my annual Christmas card competition. The standard of entries is always high, and this year was no exception. Picking just one winner and two runners up was a very hard task, so Laurelynn, Jannat and Bartosz should be incredibly proud of themselves.
“Congratulations to the winners and thank you to every single child that took part.”
