Mossley Heritage Centre, tucked away in the corner of the Emmaus building on Queen Street, will be opening its doors this month as part of the national Heritage Open Days festival.
This year’s theme focuses on Architecture, and the centre has prepared a lively programme that brings Mossley’s rich industrial and social history to life.
Visitors can enjoy a wide range of displays, including fascinating books of old photographs of Mossley, alongside information about the town’s 43 mills and its historic train station. For those who enjoy a challenge, there will be a Mossley-themed quiz, plus opportunities to add your own memories and knowledge to the displays.
Children are warmly welcomed, with activities designed especially for them – from playing Heritage Snakes and Ladders to helping build a cobbled street by making their very own cobble.
One of the highlights is the chance to explore Mossley’s Heritage Trails online via the centre’s unique Victorian Teacher’s desk, offering an interactive journey into the past. Visitors will also be able to discuss the future of Mossley’s train station and share ideas with the team.
The Heritage Centre team said: “We would love to see you – whether you’re coming to reminisce, learn something new, or simply enjoy a family day out.”
