Emotional farewell for beloved Broadbottom Headteacher

Pupils, staff, governors and parents at Broadbottom Primary School came together to give a heartfelt and joyous send-off to their much-loved Headteacher, Joanne Marrow, as she retired at the end of the spring term.

Mrs Marrow has been a central figure in the school community for the past 20 years, beginning her journey as a class teacher before going on to become a highly respected and successful Headteacher. During her time in leadership, the school has grown and flourished, developing into a warm, welcoming environment that sits proudly at the heart of the village.

The farewell celebration was filled with emotion, gratitude and fond memories. Mrs Marrow was presented with a variety of thoughtful gifts, while pupils marked the occasion with songs and messages wishing her happiness in her retirement.

In a tribute that reflected her personality and passions, staff dressed up in themes inspired by her interests, including baking, sewing, Snoopy, Take That and her beloved dog.

Known for her creativity and care, Mrs Marrow also took the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy for the children. A talented crafter, she gifted the school a beautifully handmade and embroidered giraffe for the Sensory Area. The special creation is intended to provide comfort and a quiet moment for any child who may need it.
