A man from Droylsden has been jailed after being caught performing an indecent act on a train.
Joseph Ward, of Broadway, was sentenced to 12 weeks behind bars for outraging public decency in the incident at Shipley Railway Station in West Yorkshire.
Ward was on a Leeds-bound train when caught in the act on December 6 last year.
He pleaded guilty at Leeds Magistrates’ Court on July 12 in an earlier hearing, with the judge jailing the 33-year-old because the offence was “so serious only a custodial sentence can be justified”.
As well as going to prison, Ward was also slapped with court costs of £239, including £154 to help fund victim services, which he must pay by February 9 next year.
