A company which provides a lifeline for disabled people and first aid facilities at events throughout Tameside has received a top honour.
Lifeline Community Ambulance CIC has been named Community Interest Company of the Year in Innovation and Excellence Awards organised by Coporate LiveWire.
Lifeline, which was set up in 2017 by former nurse John Gilmour, provides transport help for people to hospital appointments.
Working with fellow director Penny Brooks, Mr Gilmour also provides first aid help at major events in Greater Manchester.
He said: “We provide transport for people who do not qualify for national health transport.
“We take people to physio and even eye appointments and on one occasion, even provided transport for a disabled man to a family wedding.
“It is a great honour to receive the award and it’s a reward for the work we have put in.”
