Residents of Ashton-under-Lyne are invited to get into the festive spirit while helping the environment at this year’s Christmas Jumper Swap, a cheerful community event organised in partnership with Friends of Waterloo Park.
Taking place on Friday 5th December from 3pm to 5pm, the event will be held at the Waterloo Park Centre on Store Street, Ashton-under-Lyne (OL7 9QA). Adults and children are welcome to come along, browse the rails, and exchange a pre-loved Christmas jumper for a “new-to-you” one. Anyone who doesn’t have a jumper to swap is still encouraged to pop in and take one home, no contribution required.
The swap isn’t limited to jumpers either. Organisers are also accepting Christmas dresses and children’s festive dress-up outfits, giving families an affordable and sustainable way to prepare for the season’s celebrations.
For those who would like to donate ahead of the event, a drop-off point has been set up with Emma at Perry Jones Funeral Services on Oldham Road, Ashton-under-Lyne. All donations will help ensure a wide selection of items are available on the day.
The Christmas Jumper Swap aims to support local families, reduce textile waste, and spread a little extra festive goodwill. Organisers hope the event will encourage the community to reuse and recycle while enjoying a fun and friendly get-together.
