Businesses invited to grow £50 in challenge for WIllow Wood

Willow Wood Hospice is challenging local businesses to get creative with just £50 and see how much they can turn it into, to support local people living with life-limiting illnesses.

The Hospice has launched its new Corporate Challenge, inviting teams from businesses across the local community to take part in a six-month fundraising challenge from 1 January to 30 June 2027.

Each participating team will be given a £50 stake by Willow Wood and challenged to use their entrepreneurial skills to raise as much money as possible.

There are no limits on how teams can fundraise – they could organise an event, run a one-off fundraising activity, or come up with an entirely original money-making idea. The only rules are that activities must be safe and legal.

At the end of the challenge, the teams will come together for an awards ceremony where the winners will be revealed.

Joanne Lees, Partnership Development Lead at Willow Wood Hospice, said: “We’re really excited to launch our Corporate Challenge and see what local businesses can do with just £50. We’re challenging teams to think outside the box, get creative and have some fun, while raising as much as they can to support patient care.

“There really are no limits to what you can do, so we’re looking forward to seeing the entrepreneurial ideas our teams come up with. The sky’s the limit – the question is, what will you do with your £50?

As well as raising vital funds for the Hospice, the challenge offers businesses a chance to strengthen their teams, grow their local networks, increase their visibility in the community, and support their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) objectives.

Based in Ashton-under-Lyne, Willow Wood Hospice delivers specialist, compassionate and dignified care to patients from Tameside and Glossop living with any life-limiting illness.

It costs around £4.1 million each year for the Hospice to continue providing its vital services and only around 22 per cent of that annual income comes from the government
