Local businesses and community organisations across Tameside are being encouraged to take part in a dedicated Climate Action Conference next month.

Hosted by Tameside Council, the event will take place on Monday 9 February at Victoria Market Hall in Stalybridge, bringing together businesses, voluntary groups and environmental organisations to share practical and cost-effective ways to reduce environmental impact and help build a greener, more resilient borough.

Running from 9.30am to 4.30pm, the conference will feature a range of speakers working across conservation, ecology, sustainable development and community action. Attendees will also be able to take part in two interactive workshops designed to explore realistic steps organisations can take, share experiences, and find out more about the support available locally.

Speakers include representatives from:

  • Moors for the Future
  • Tameside Greenspace Volunteers
  • Greater Manchester Combined Authority
  • Ecobelt
  • Scottish Power Electricity Northwest and The Growth Company
  • Greater Manchester Ecology Unit

A networking lunch will be provided, giving participants the opportunity to build new connections, explore partnership opportunities and learn more about support for sustainability projects.

Councillor Laura Boyle, Tameside Council’s Executive Member for Environmental Services and Neighbourhoods, said: “This conference is an important opportunity for Tameside to come together and take meaningful steps towards our shared environmental goals. Whether you’re already active in climate action or just starting your journey, this event will provide inspiration, practical guidance and the chance to collaborate with others committed to making a difference. The choices we make today will shape the future for our children and young people. Our community’s commitment to climate action is key to creating a better Tameside.”

The council says the event is aimed at organisations at all stages of their sustainability journey. Those attending can expect to learn practical, achievable actions to reduce their environmental footprint, hear from local experts and environmental leaders, and access tools and advice to help cut energy use and operating costs.

The conference will also offer opportunities to connect with like-minded organisations, strengthen corporate social responsibility, and explore new ideas for collaboration and innovation.
