Longdendale High School is celebrating another year of strong GCSE success, with pupils, families and staff marking an impressive set of results that highlight both academic achievement and personal growth.
Building on last year’s performance, students at the Hollingworth school recorded notable improvements across a range of subjects, including Geography, Spanish and Music. There was also an increase in EBacc outcomes, underlining Longdendale’s commitment to offering a broad and balanced curriculum.
As part of Stamford Park Trust, the school continues to focus on equipping pupils with the skills, knowledge and values needed for future success. Alongside strong academic performance, the school also celebrated achievements in creative and vocational subjects such as Art, Business Studies, Sport and Religious Studies – reflecting Longdendale’s belief in nurturing the diverse talents of every learner.
Among the individual success stories was Laramie, who secured an outstanding set of results with 2 Grade 9s, 6 Grade 8s, 2 Grade 7s and a Grade 6. He is now heading to Xaverian College to study Ancient History, Physics, Maths and Further Maths.
Reflecting on his journey, Laramie said: “I’m really proud of my Longdendale legacy and want to thank all the staff who have helped me to achieve my potential.”
Emmie was another high achiever, with 4 Grade 9s and 6 Grade 8s. She is set to begin her studies at Ashton Sixth Form College, taking History, Business and Psychology.
She said: “I’m really proud of what I have achieved at Longdendale and I’m very grateful for all the support I have received. I’m looking forward to going on to do History, Business and Psychology at Ashton Sixth Form College.”
Head of School, Michael Chiles, praised the collective efforts of students, staff and families: “I would like to offer my warmest congratulations to all our students on their GCSE results. We are incredibly proud of what they have achieved not only in terms of their academic success, but also in the resilience, determination and maturity they have shown throughout their time with us. These results are a testament to the hard work and commitment of our students, the dedication and care of our staff, and the invaluable support of their families.
“Together, they have created a lasting legacy, one that reflects the values of our school and the power of respect, resilience and aspiration. We are proud of every single student and wish them all the very best as they take their next steps. Whether they are moving on to college, apprenticeships or other pathways, we know they leave us well-prepared for a bright and successful future.”
The results further strengthen Longdendale’s upward trajectory, as the school continues to support pupils in both academic and creative disciplines. With a focus on respect, resilience and aspiration, Longdendale High School remains committed to providing an environment where every child can thrive.
