The Metrolink line to Ashton was blocked this morning after a crash between a car and a tram in Audenshaw.
Police, ambulance and fire services were all at the scene opposite The Snipe Retail Park, with the track closed in both directions between Velopark and Ashton.
“Due to a road traffic accident there is no service between Ashton Under-Lyne and Velopark,” said a statement from the Bee Network.
“Tickets, passes and contactless can be used on 7, 216, 219, 230 and 231 bus services.
“Metrolink apologises for any inconvenience.”
The incident happened at around 9:10am with an Ashton-bound tram, which has suffered damage to its front from the impact, while there is shattered glass from the car at the junction of Gainsboro Road.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Shortly after 9:10 this morning (Sunday 18 August), three fire engines from Ashton, Blackley and Phillips Park fire stations were called to attend a road traffic collision involving a tram and a vehicle on Gainsboro Road, Audenshaw.
“Firefighters worked closely with Metrolink staff to make the area safe before departing after approximately 1 hour at the scene”
TfGM have also released a statement: "Transport for Greater Manchester and the Metrolink operator KeolisAmey Metrolink (KAM), this morning, worked with emergency services in response to a car and tram collision at Audenshaw. No injuries have been reported.
"Services have now resumed however there are some delays to services on Ashton and Eccles lines."
