Waterloo and Taunton Conservative Club in Ashton-under-Lyne hosted a charity crown green bowls match over the weekend in memory of Christopher Radcliffe, who sadly passed away suddenly in 2022 at the age of 36.
The event brought together players, friends, and supporters for a day of sport and remembrance, while also raising money for a meaningful cause. This year’s cup was claimed by Albert Anderson and Stephen Radcliffe, Christopher’s father, who triumphed over finalists Steve Ogden and Sarah Chapman in a closely contested match. A total of £300 was raised through the event, with all proceeds donated to Blind Veterans UK. The charity supports vision-impaired ex-Servicemen and women, helping them regain independence and rebuild their lives after sight loss. The tournament served not only as a tribute to Christopher’s memory, but also as a celebration of community spirit and generosity, with participants contributing to a vital organisation that continues to make a real difference to veterans across the country. Club Chairman, Leon Tamcken said "Chris has a real passion for crown green bowls and it's lovely that his friends and family can get together to remember Chris in this way". Christopher Radcliffe.
