It was a morning of celebration at Blue Coat School in Oldham as students, staff, and families came together to mark an exceptional set of GCSE results.
This year, 35% of all GCSE grades across all subjects were awarded at the top 9–7 grades, highlighting the impressive academic achievement of the cohort. In core subjects, just under 90% of students achieved grades 9–4 in English and Maths, while 75% secured the gold-standard grades 9–5.
Several students achieved remarkable individual success. Pacco Takami and Millie Chandler each earned 10 grade 9s and 1 grade 8, while Roisin Barnes, Elliot Bennion, and Ivy Nwaorgu each achieved 7 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s.
Millie Chandler said of her results: “I’m so pleased and couldn’t have hoped for better. I can’t wait to start at The Blue Coat Sixth Form next year and couldn’t have asked for better help and support from all the staff at the school – thank you!”
Pacco Takami added: “I’m elated with my results and would like to thank all the staff at the school for their hard work and support. I’m really looking forward to starting next year at The Blue Coat Sixth Form.”
Headteacher Rob Higgins praised the students and the wider school community: “We are absolutely delighted with the results achieved by our young people. Every year our students achieve incredible results, but the class of 2025 have surpassed all previous achievements. We are incredibly proud of every single one of them.
“It’s been a truly wonderful morning celebrating with students, their families and staff today, and it’s so pleasing to see our young people achieve the outcomes that their hard work and perseverance has deserved. I’d like to thank the families of all our students for the support and guidance they have provided, and all the staff at the school for their tireless hard work, dedication, commitment and pastoral care that go into achieving such a fabulous set of results.”
Most of the class of 2025 will continue their studies at Blue Coat Sixth Form, with the school wishing all students every success and happiness in the next stage of their education.
