It was a day of pride and celebration at Audenshaw School as students, staff and families gathered to mark the achievements of the Class of 2025, who received a highly impressive set of GCSE results.

This year’s cohort delivered results that continue the school’s upward trend in academic performance. 62% of students achieved a Grade 5 or above in English, with 55% doing the same in Mathematics. Meanwhile, 72% secured a Grade 4 or above in English, and 76% in Maths. Across all subjects, nearly a third of all grades were between 6 and 9, and almost 20% were at the top tier of Grades 7 to 9 - a clear testament to the hard work and progress being made across the school.

Phillip Murphy, Vice Principal (Achievement & Standards), said: “2025 has added to the continued upward trend in results here at Audenshaw School. Once again, we see continued improvement across a broad range of subjects since examinations returned in 2022; this is something which everyone at Audenshaw School should be proud of. A lot of our students are very happy today – and rightly so.”

The positive outcomes were supported by an exceptional attendance rate of 94.4%, significantly above the national secondary average of 91%.

Kelly Breakell, Vice Principal (Student Personal Development & Support), reflected on the student body’s commitment: “The conduct of our Y11 students throughout their final year has been exemplary and this, combined with our outstanding attendance figure of 94.4% – compared to the national secondary school average of 91% – has undoubtedly been one of many contributing factors to another successful academic year. This commitment to consistent learning demonstrates the dedication of our students and the support of our families in prioritising their sons’ education.”

Joining the celebrations for the first time as principal, Holly Eckhardt praised both students and staff for their efforts and achievements: “It has been a privilege to share in the celebrations of the Class of 2025, and I would like to congratulate every one of them for their hard work and efforts. I would also like to thank not only their parents and carers for supporting them through their exams, but also the Audenshaw School staff, whose dedication, expertise and care over the years have culminated in these results.”

Looking ahead, Miss Eckhardt added: “The achievements of the Class of 2025 are just the beginning of the next exciting chapter of their journey beyond Audenshaw School. Their results mark not just academic success, but the development of determined, capable young men ready to make their mark on the world. As they embark on the next exciting phase of their journey, we wish them every success; their achievements today are a true testament to their character and resilience. Good luck to all the Class of 2025 as they continue to seize every opportunity ahead of them – Carpe Diem!”
