Ashton Old Baths throws open its doors for family and community fun day

Ashton Old Baths will welcome visitors this summer for a vibrant family and community day, celebrating the building’s stunning transformation from a disused Victorian bathhouse into a modern hub of innovation and creativity.

Taking place on Saturday 30 August from 12 noon to 3pm, the event promises an afternoon packed with entertainment, activities, and a chance for local residents to explore the building’s remarkable new chapter.

Open to all, the day will feature a wide range of free family-friendly attractions. Visitors can enjoy the antics of a magician, take part in a chocolate-making workshop led by a professional chocolatier, and challenge each other to giant versions of classic games like Jenga and Connect 4. Fans of nostalgia will also love the retro arcade zone, where they can try their hand at classic games such as Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Pac-Man, and Space Invaders.

To keep energy levels up, there will be plenty of tasty treats on offer, including freshly made Dutch pancakes and waffles with a variety of toppings.

Although the event is free, advance booking is essential to ensure that everyone can take part safely and enjoy everything on offer.

The fun day also marks an exciting opportunity for the public to discover Ashton Old Baths in its current role as a thriving business and innovation centre. Now home to a range of small and medium-sized enterprises in the digital and creative sectors, the building has been carefully revitalised while maintaining its rich heritage. The central workspace, managed by Oxford Innovation Space, sits within the original structure and offers an impressive blend of historical architecture and modern design.

Councillor Andrew McLaren, Deputy Leader Growth Housing and Homelessness said: “We are throwing open the doors on this amazing building so that everyone can come along and see for themselves how fantastic it really is. We want everyone to come along and enjoy the event and celebrate this magnificent and innovative space and the brilliant businesses that call it home. It’s become a place of innovation and growth, and it is a brilliant success story that everyone should have the chance to see it and know more about!”
