100% attendance, 100% success: Alder students inspire

Alder Community High School is celebrating another year of fantastic achievements as students received their GCSE results yesterday.

With heartfelt pride, the school has commended its Year 11 cohort for their hard work, resilience, and unwavering dedication throughout their studies.

Headteacher Michelle Critchlow expressed her admiration for the students, saying: "We are incredibly proud of our students. Their results reflect not only their commitment but also the support and encouragement they have received from their families and our dedicated team of staff. Our students have shown true determination and have excelled."

Among the many success stories, several students stood out for their exceptional efforts and achievements.

Head Boy Jubril was overjoyed with his results, surpassing his academic targets and securing a place at Xavarian College. Having transitioned into mainstream education partway through Year 8, Jubril has defied expectations and proved that every child has the potential to thrive. Described by staff as an inspirational Head Boy with outstanding morals, Jubril’s journey is a powerful reminder of perseverance and possibility.

Lily, a gifted musician, juggled her academic responsibilities alongside a busy extracurricular schedule and still achieved top grades across the board. She will now continue her education at Ashton Sixth Form College, where she plans to study A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry, and Physics - setting her sights on a future career in engineering.

Holly's story highlights the power of consistency. With an impeccable 100% attendance record throughout her time at Alder, Holly’s dedication and strong work ethic paid off in the form of excellent GCSE results. She now heads to Aquinas College to study Biology, Chemistry, and PE. Her unwavering commitment to learning serves as an inspiration to her peers and underscores the importance of resilience.

Another standout student, Alex, known for his love of history, lived up to high expectations. Earning a free ticket to the Year 11 Prom for having the highest attendance at after-school revision sessions, Alex’s efforts translated into superb results. Popular with both staff and classmates, Alex was even voted “Most Likely to Become Prime Minister” at prom - a fitting tribute to his ambition and leadership.

Alder Community High School continues to be a cornerstone of educational excellence in Tameside, offering a supportive and aspirational environment where students are encouraged to reach their full potential.

"We congratulate all our students and wish them every success in the next stage of their education and beyond," added Ms. Critchlow.
