Naomi Kalu

From Monday June 16th onwards, artist of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature is Naomi Kalu. Naomi grew up surrounded by inspirational music and found herself listening to artists and bands such as Lauryn Hill, Joan Armatrading, James and Tracy Chapman. With an amazing voice, a talent for writing, and the perfect singer songwriter look and vibe, Naomi herself decided to follow her dreams and passion as a musician. Starting as a solo artist, her mesmerising performances soon evolved into a full-band experience, weaving jazzy drum grooves, atmospheric synths, textured electric guitar, introspective bass and the organic warmth of acoustic guitar to creates a sound that is rich, nostalgic and immersive. Naomi and her band shift from intimate, to expansive, high-energy arrangements that keep live audiences buzzing from start to finish, and they really are a once seen never forgotten band. With a busy year ahead, full of live gigs and soon to be released songs, and an ever-growing fanbase, Naomi Kalu has a huge future in the music world.
