Keith's Brother

From Monday May 26th onwards, artist of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature is Keith's Brother. The genius behind Keith's Brother is Mark Jackson, who really does have a brother named Keith. Describing his work as 'Somewhere between the cinema scope of a Mancunian James Joyce, and the musical orbit of a teenage John Barry in the midst of an experimental Neu!/Kraftwerk phase', Keith's Brother is a spoken word musical artist who has also been a contributor to the 'United We Stand' fanzine, and 'Vice' and Glasgow’s 'Thi Wurd' magazines. He began performing at open mic events around Manchester and Liverpool around five years ago, performing his stories to live audiences and quickly progressed to putting his stories to music. His recent live performances have included supporting 'Man and The Echo' and also hosts the Spoken Word segment of Manchester's monthly grassroots TV show 'Mancunia TV'. Keith's Brother has a huge list of influences, including Jimmy Webb, Russ Litten, John Barry, Mike Harding, Leonard Cohen, Joe Strummer, Gil Scott Heron, Mark Burgess, Roy, Steve Mason, The Pale Fountains, Jimmy McGovern, David Chase, Toria Garbutt, Paul Birtill, Wendy Erskine, Ray Davies, Arthur Lee, Pamela Adlon, Casandra Jenkins, David Essex, Hovis Presley and Alan Bennett. His music is available on Spotify, and he will be performing live at Reverend and The Makers 20th anniversary gig at Sheffield Don Valley Bowl on Saturday August 30th.
