Indian Summer
From Monday July 14th onwards, band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Indian Summer. The much-loved rock band formed in Rochdale almost 28 years ago. They played their first gig in August 1998 after seven months of jamming together. After months of endless gigs playing cover versions, the band decided to write and record original music. With ten original songs recorded, the band toured around the Northwest, playing student bars and iconic venues such as Manchester Academy and Liverpool's Cavern Club. At the time the band were called 'The Statement' and an album called 'Stand Divided' was recorded at Astar Studios in Heywood and released in 2010. The album was shipped around the world and even though it wasn't a commercial success it gained the band a large number of fans. Although several lineup changes have happened over the years, the band are still going strong today, recently changing their name to 'Indian Summer'. With weekly rehearsals and a great band spirit the lads are still going strong after almost three decades. They recently released a brilliant new single called 'Botoxin' which is available now.
