Dead Tenant

From Monday June 9th onwards, band of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight feature are Dead Tenant. The three-piece Indie Rock band formed in 2021 and found themselves staring into the maelstrom of post pandemic, Brexit beleaguered Britain. They responded with songs about corruption and inequality, but also with songs of love and hope, describing their music as 'Heavy Pop for Heavy Times, which is always passionate, sometimes political, and occasionally funky'. They have a Power Pop sound, with hints of Post Punk, Art Rock and Grunge, with live shows which are an audio and visual experience The band consist of drummer and singer Scott Vicari, guitarist and visual artist Liam Spencer, and Yousef Sheikh on 4 and 6 string bass guitar and are influenced by the likes of Radiohead, Joy Division, John Martyn, Black Sabbath, Talk Talk and the Cure. Recent live performances have included headline shows at St Mary’s Chambers in Rawtenstall, Sunbird Records in Darwen and an appearance at the Darwen Live festival. Dead Tenant will be playing live at Band on the Wall in Manchester on Thursday August 28th.
