Caesar Of Cymatics
Artist of the week on Tameside Radio's Local Music Spotlight is Caesar Of Cymatics. Caesar Of Cymatics is a solo project created by 16-year-old Tom Clegg, who's stage name is Caesar.
His songs were written in his bedroom and include talk and ideas of identity, romance, isolation and the questions of where fans of his music are in life, why they are there, and how they got there. His music takes influence from genres such as Shoegaze, Dream Pop, Post-Punk, folk and general alternative music, with bands such as The Chameleons, The Smiths and The Velvet Underground names as bands who heavily influence him.
Tom learnt his first guitar chords at the age of 11, and had written his first few songs by the end of 2020. His Caesar Of Cymatics project came together after a friend of his dad's, Oz Cooper, invited him over to his studio to record some tracks in late 2021, and in November 2022 his first single "It's Plain Knowing" was released.
Since then, Caesar has amassed a small online following as well as somewhat of a name in the local scene through handing out free CDs of his music on Manchester's Oldham Street in various record shops, and in several respected stores. He then got in contact with respected promoters such as Scruff Of The Neck and Dusty Pop Entertainment, who helped him get his first two gigs, which were at Manchester Academy 3 and Club Academy, and at the same time he continued to write and create a multitude of songs with his new producer, Dylan Flint.
Fast forward to November 2023, and Caesar recently won the 'Ashton Young Achiever' award and is soon to release a CD compilation album of unreleased tracks, and also prepare for the release of a new single. He will also play at his third gig ,supporting Lower Loveday, this Saturday (25th November) at Manchester's Deaf Institute.
Caesar Of Cymatics really is a great example of a dedicated hard working young musician, and his music can be found on all social media and streaming platforms. His music will be played on every weekday show on Tameside Radio between 6am and 7pm all of next week.
Caesar Of Cymatics also joined the team on The Dave Sweetmore Show last Monday night, you can listen again via the OnDemand section of the website.
