Alex Spencer

Droylsden's favourite musical son, 15-year-old singer songwriter Alex Spencer has, over the last couple of years, become one of the most recognised and talked about names on the North West music scene.

Often referred to as ‘the lad who busks in Manchester City Centre’, for the time he spends playing outside the Arndale Centre, he’s had the likes of Liam Gallagher and Lady Gaga sing his praises on their social media platforms.

He’s released two amazing singles, ‘Things Just Come and Go’ and ‘The Morning Times’, both receiving a great deal of radio airplay around the country, and praise from many in the music industry.

Last year he played to 20,000 people at a packed out AO Arena in Manchester, and was also a special guest of the Manchester City first team staff and management, playing at the team’s Premier League Champions Civic reception.

Along with his band, which features Will Harvey and Drew Cyprus, 2023 looks like being an exciting year for him.

He’s also lined up to play at the Made In Manchester festival which takes place at Astley Sports Village in Dukinfield on 27 May this year, alongside some of the country’s leading tribute bands, plus other local bands and musicians.

The future for Alex Spencer is as big as he wants it to be, and he has already cemented himself in the Tameside history books as one of the area’s best loved indie rock and roll musicians.
