A woman remains in a serious condition in hospital after sustaining a head injury in a collision with a tram in Ashton on Tuesday.
Emergency services rushed to the scene at the Ashton West tram stop on Lord Sheldon Way at around 3pm.
Initial reports suggested a 10-year-old girl had been injured, but it has now been confirmed it was a woman in her early 20s.
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson told the Reporter: “We were called at 2:56pm to an incident involving a tram and a pedestrian.
“The pedestrian was a woman in her early 20s. We took her to the major trauma centre at Salford Royal Hospital. She was in a serious condition and had sustained a head injury.
“An ambulance, two rapid response vehicles and an operational commander attended the scene.”
Metrolink services were suspended for several hours on Tuesday afternoon between Ashton-under-Lyne and Ashton Moss while the emergency services were at the scene.
The Tameside Reporter have also requested an update from Greater Manchester Police.
