Total refix of the parts at The Vale

Upcyclers will be invoking the spirit of The Repair Shop over the next two Wednesdays at a Tameside arts centre.

Organised to coincide with Greater Manchester’s annual Repair Week, which runs from March 3-9, the sessions at The Vale in Mossley will teach essential repair and maintenance skills.

Experts will be on hand to sharpen tools, fix bikes and show attendees how to prepare for painting projects.

Jane Harris, The Vale’s community engagement lead, said: "According to R4GM [Recycle for Greater Manchester], last year Greater Manchester chucked out an estimated £417 million worth of repairable items.

"That's an astonishing figure and we are appealing to everyone to do their bit and have a go at making do and mending rather than condemning old or damaged items to landfill.

"Our Repair Sessions are also lots of fun and a great opportunity to meet new people, socialise and enjoy a brew.

“They're free to attend, so there's really nothing to lose!"

The repair sessions will take place as part of the centre’s Welcome Wednesday, which runs each week between 1-3pm.
