The Peter ‘Rusty’ Kennedy Memorial Car Show has raised more than £2,000 for Willow Wood Hospice following another successful gathering in Ashton-under-Lyne.
The sixth annual event took place at Dixon Academy on Sunday, August 16th, bringing together car enthusiasts, families, and members of the local community to remember Peter ‘Rusty’ Kennedy and support the hospice which cared for him during his final days.
Organisers have now taken to social media to thank everyone who helped make this year’s event a success, with more than £2,000 raised for Willow Wood Hospice.
The event featured hundreds of cars, including classics, retro models, performance vehicles, custom builds, and the famous WOO – Rusty’s Ford Capri fitted with a 4x4 Cosworth engine – itself.
Alongside the cars, visitors could enjoy trade stands, food and drink stalls, Show & Shine trophies, and a charity raffle, with prizes donated by supporters and local businesses.
The organisers said on Facebook: “A huge thank you to all of our sponsors, donors, behind-the-scenes team, security staff, and everyone who helped make this year’s Rusty Memorial such a success.
“Most of all, thank you to the amazing community who come together year after year to remember Rusty and support Willow Wood.
“We could not have done it without you all.”
Peter Kennedy sadly passed away in 2020, and the annual memorial was established to celebrate his life and raise funds for Willow Wood Hospice.
The event has continued to grow since its first staging, with previous shows attracting hundreds of visitors and a wide range of vehicles.
Willow Wood relies heavily on fundraising and community support to help provide its specialist care and services to local families.
