Ashton Hurst Councillor Dolores Lewis organised a local community pop-up cycle hub which was held at Holden Clough School.
The free initiative provided an opportunity to bring local residents together alongside promoting cycling, encouraging local residents to build up confidence in their riding skills, bring their bikes along for repairs and receive advice when purchasing a cycle which best serves their needs.
Councillor Lewis, a keen cyclist herself, said: "Community activities contribute to keeping the spirit high for local residents and are an important feature for bringing people together to create strong and sustainable communities.
"People are just so passionate about cycling and it really was wonderful to see so many residents excitedly swap information about their bikes, share hints and tips and get their bikes serviced and repaired. I’m looking forward to organising another pop-up cycle hub in the spring."
Councillor Lewis has thanked Holden Clough head teacher Faik Kordemir for use of the school as a venue and kindly providing refreshments, as well as Melissa Hopwood, Tameside Youth Service Manager, and her team for all their hard work.
