Despite cold misty weather, families turned out in large numbers in a show of support for more than 50 young people and adults from Denton back in 1974.
They were confirmed into the Church of England by the Bishop of Manchester, the Rt Rev Patrick Campbell Rodger.
St Anne’s Church, Haughton Green, was packed for the service.
The candidates came from St Lawrence’s, Christ Church and St George’s Dane Bank as well as St Anne’s.
Lessons were read by the rural dean the Rev Frederick Thorne, St Anne’s rector the Rev Martin Ashworth and lay reader Mr John Nuttall.
