Saying ‘cheese’ for the Reporter photographer in more ways than one... Mary Wall munched her way through half a pound of dairy product in a brewery quest to find the region’s champion cheese eater.
Mary, 38, from Hobson Crescent, Audenshaw would go forward to the next round after managing to eat a sufficient quantity quickly enough to win a medal in the latest heat at the Stamford Arms, Mossley.
This took place back in 1971 and is remembered through the Reporter archives.
